I need a fricken holiday September 25, 2007

Yeah, but then we all do right?  Well, I especially need a holiday because I have never really taken one that I basically didn’t have to.  The idea of going somewhere nice, for a break, because I want to is all but a foreign to me.  It seems all to impossible, which is silly I know.  So anyhow.  I have been wracking my brain this week to try and formulate a plan.  I figured that if I pick a place and time, I will have something to work towards, meaning that it may actually come about.   I was thinking it needs to be somewhere pretty, relaxing and yarny.  I was thinking of finding someplace in Victoria, then I remembered a place I mentioned at S’n'B a few weeks back.  Check it out  http://www.stansborough.co.nz/sb/cottage.cfm

They have their own rare breed of sheep, alpacas a cottage where you can stay and mill/factory which is mostly weaving oriented (I think) that you can tour.  The website says you can cuddle the alpacas, go on bush-walks, canoe amongst the ducks and play farm golf (whatever that is? hope it isn’t gross).

I am so there.  Heh, you can be sure I’d purchase some possum yarn, tour a winery or two and sample the local venison too.  What do you guys think?

Who wants to spin? September 12, 2007

OK, I am putting the call out.  Who wants to spin?  The Queensland Spinners, Weavers and Fibre Artists are having a workshop called Spinning A Yarn.  It is on the 27th and 28th of October and will set you back a measly $50.  I intend to be there, who’s with me?

I have sent them an email to confirm it is still happening, as I think there has been some concern that numbers could be low.  I’ll let you all know when I hear back.

Fees and enrolment forms are required four weeks before the course at the latest.  That basically gives us until the 25th-ish of September, because they seem to want payment by cheque (so I guess it will need to be posted).  It is all not that far away really, so if any of you want to come with me, let me know.  I am happy to organize the forms, cheque and the postage if that makes it easier.

Just in case you wanna have a look, here they are…  http://www.qldspinners.org.au/

Oh yeah, and drop spindles are fine for this, that is all that is absolutely necessary to take along I believe.  Much easier to organize than a wheel at the last minute I’d imagine.  This fellow here http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=56263 sells eucalyptus wood ones (and is a Queenslander).  How cool is that?  Anyhow, I’ll be sure to get all the info on what we need (if anything) and where to get it, when I have heard back from them.

Wheee!  I am so excited, I have been waiting most of the year for this.

So what do you say?

More swimming trunks September 4, 2007

Last time I posted you all a snortle, it featured men’s swimming trunks.  Thought you’d like to see the ladie’s ones from the same mag.

They are actually quite cute shorts, shame they are made of wool.  But the awesome part has to be the adorable octopus on the matching top.  He is a crocheted applique, I believe.  A real cutie, but i still think it is funny.
