Yeah! We are in a ring. April 26, 2007

Big thanks to Crow Jane for signing us up to some knitting rings.  I had been avoiding it, naughty naughty.  So we all have to be sure we post regularly now right?  The rings don’t like it if you post only occasionally, or so I have heard.  I’m sure we’ll all have much to tell about our knitting adventures anyhow.  Especially with the weather starting to get cooler now too, so it should not be a problem.  Right folks? :-)

Well, on that note… I did come here to show off too.  But it is not my own handiwork this time.  Take a gander at the awesome handspun yarn I received in a Craftster swap with RecycleMicol.

To The Extreme, handspun merino

Yummy!  I know you will all agree it is very me.  I was just commenting yesterday that I am in need of a tea cozy and I think this mini skein is just right for the job as I have a mission brown teapot, it is the same brown that is in this yarn.  Perfect!  I promise next picture you see of this yarn, will be of my handiwork this time.  Hopefully, jazzing up my brown betty.

RM totally spoiled me and I’ll be blogging about it all (over at Stitches Anomalous though)in no time at all.  Thought I’d keep it yarn specific here.  :-)   See you all next Tuesday.

I finally finished this scarf which I started at the end of last year. I should probablyblock but I a) couldn’t be arsed and b) am not quite sure how to block this particular pattern. Might show my face at a SnB in the near future… stranger things have happened.

While visiting my brother down south I dragged him into a yarn store to check out the stock in chilly climates (not too much difference, but the cleckheaton country’s only $3.60) Got some bamboo you may see later.

He taught himself to knit a square out of a book a few years ago, but hadn’t done anything since then, so he decided to go the full mile and make a scarf- finito! In 2 weeks!

Scarf

I can’t remember the name of the yarn right now, it looked like a long strand of sour gummi worms in the ball, but it’s knit up surprisingly nicely. AND I taught him how to cast off over the phone- very impressive. Hopefully we’ll see the next exciting creation here soon!

And not only does he make scarves, he makes pretty good music too http://www.myspace.com/thebridgebetween (end gratuitous plug)
